Care Dimensions Launches a Learning Institute

Care Dimensions, the largest provider of hospice and palliative care in Massachusetts, is proud to announce the launch of the Care Dimensions Learning Institute to deliver education, workshops and resources on end-of-life topics such as hospice and palliative care, bereavement, advance care planning, and living with advanced illness. 

The Learning Institute aims to educate a range of learning groups, including healthcare professionals, community members, patients, caregivers and families.

“As part of our non-profit mission, we have been providing professional and community education for over 40 years,” says Patricia Ahern, Care Dimensions President and CEO. “By expanding our educational offerings and formats through the Learning Institute, we are further positioning Care Dimensions as a regional and national thought leader by sharing best practices in providing care to individuals with serious illness, as well as other areas including grief and end-of-life issues.”  

Educating over 7,300 people in 2019, Care Dimensions Learning Institute staff deliver curricula via a range of learning formats, including professional and community presentations, a community-access television program, and e-learning opportunities, including professional and community webinars and a podcast series.

The podcast series, “Living Forever: Not an Option” is hosted by Vice President of Business Development Lyn Skarmeas and Director of Professional and Community Education Mary Crowe, LICSW, ACHP-SW.  “Our goal is to educate by making these topics more approachable. We want to empower individuals with advanced illness – or their family members – to understand how and when hospice and palliative care services can help, so they can access care sooner and have more opportunity to improve their quality of life,” says Skarmeas.

The Learning Institute’s community access television program, “Timing is Everything” is available on Care Dimensions’ website and has been downloaded for broadcast by 34 community access television stations in and beyond New England.
